Peter O'Connor works on a project.

“Peter O’Connor has done fantastic work for me in restoring a very neglected prominent house constructed in 1895 in South Royalton, Vt. He was very understanding of what was needed and thought the various projects through to keep the work moving along on schedule. While he was working I was also having a new heating system installed, the asphalt roof replaced, high density foam insulation installed, electrical wiring replaced, walls re-plastered and painted, and two bathrooms installed. Peter skillfully relocated doors with decorative surrounds, modified the kitchen, and did the carpentry required by the other trades people. He was flexible and able to coordinate his work with the various other trades people to complete the work on schedule. I would not hesitate to have him do additional work and would highly recommend him.” (John P. Dumville, Historic Sites Operations Chief, Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, Montpelier Vermont)

“I highly recommend Peter O’Connor and his crew to anyone needing renovation or new construction on their home. They built a mud room and screen porch on to our Tunbridge, Vt., home in 2006, then did an extensive renovation to the house’s interior in 2009. In both cases, Peter was on budget, considerate, listened to our feedback and was very enjoyable to work with.” (Geoff Hansen)

“We hired Peter O’Connor in 2005 to build a small cottage on the eastern coast of Maine.  To begin, he helped us produce a design for a 24’x16’ structure with a 90 degree turn stair case, and a second floor with a 3’ knee wall and 45 degree pitch roof. Both the staircase design and the roof pitch give the small space (750 square feet) a spacious feel; our family of four lives very comfortably in it for over two months every summer.  Perched upon a bluff, with a straight southern exposure to the sea, it is regularly exposed to 70-80 mph winds without ill effect. Three or four years ago, our neighbor, ~500 ft to the west, lost the roof of his brand-new house to these winds. Pete’s decisions with regard to choosing his materials and the ingenuity and expertise he used in constructing the cottage have insured us against expensive repairs.
“Because we live in Maine only in the summer, our construction schedule was very tight. Peter was able to complete the work under this demanding deadline. I wanted to be actively involved in the building, to learn about the process of building a small house, and Peter was an excellent and patient teacher. Having watched him work, I can say that he is a skilled, careful, and conscientious carpenter. He is an excellent communicator and honest businessman. It was an unalloyed pleasure to work with him and we heartily recommend him for any construction work.” (Thomas A. Zona)

“We LOVE the portico and of course the screened porch. It all looks excellent! Thank you so much for doing such perfect work on our house! Chris and I are thrilled with the outcome and how quickly you worked.” (Deborah Cellis)
